2 new online startups have emerged to take the hassle out of finding and scheduling a professional maid to clean your apartment or house.  The startups are the themaidscompany.com from Gurgaon and getmaid.com of NewYork City. Though both of them offer more or less easy ways to find and hire maids online – though the business models are not the same.

Getmaid is positioned as a premium service that makes it easy to quickly book a maid via its Android & iPhone apps or from website, GetMaid.com. The cost for hiring a maid is a flat $45 per hour, which includes tip and eco-friendly cleaning supplies. To the transaction simple – its billed directly to the credit card of your profile after cleanings are finished. The hourly fees are prorated, so, if the job is done in an hour and a half, you don’t end up paying for the whole 2nd hour. User can book anytime between 9:30am and 6:00pm, seven days a week. But at this moment its limited to new york City only. The co-founders hope to begin rolling out into more cities next year.

www.themaidscompany.com-startupThe Maids’ Company (TMC) is an initiative from Urban Mahila & Mazdoor Alliance (UMA) to transform the unorganized domestic housekeeping sector into a well-trained housekeeping workforce. It currently provide a range of services such as cooking, cleaning and childcare to the urban middle-class at affordable prices. Its a win-win for both the maid and the client as maids are guaranteed a steady income, worker protection and increased access to a range of well being initiatives and financial services. On the other hand – the clients benefit by engaging with a company as opposed to the constant tussle with maids. The company offers its services for an annual registration fee of Rs 5,000, which is refundable for 2 months. It also charges 10 percent as salary charge to clients, so if the salary of the maid is Rs 5000, the client has to pay Rs 5500. Please comment and let us know hat do you think of this 2 startups and if you would use them for your own house of office?
